LOPE Virtual Horse Show Classes May 18 - June 1, 2020

Registration and Video Submission

Videos must be submitted between May 18 – June 1, 2020 on the LOPE Virtual Benefit Horse Show Facebook page. Each class will have a dedicated post in the group for competitors to post their video submission in a comment. Entry forms must be submitted prior to your video submission. All videos must be continuous.

Attire

Attire is comfortable, but classy and appropriate for each discipline. Boots with heels are required all classes. Half chaps and polo shirts are fine. Helmets are required for all mounted English classes and all riders under age 18. Helmets are optional for western riders over age 18.

Sportsmanship and Horsemanship

Abusive or dangerous riding will not be tolerated. This includes but is not limited to: excessive whipping, spur rubs, overly tight nose bands, excessively high speeds and poor sportsmanship. Display of such behavior on the videos will result in immediate elimination.

 

Class Descriptions

Dressage Tests

Camera must be set up at C. Video must be continuous. After completion of the dressage test, rider must demonstrate that tack, bit and gear is in compliance with USDF and WDAA requirements.

  • USDF Dressage Tests as listed on entry form (no others permitted)
  • WDAA Dressage Tests as listed on entry form (no others permitted)

Ground Work Classes (in-hand)

Lead your horse through a specific pattern of movements and exercises. Judged on presentation, completion, manners and horsemanship. Bonus points for smiling. Patterns to be posted on May 4. Videos must be continuous. Patterns may be called for the handlers in Ground Work I and Ground Work II classes.

Horse Wise Equitation Classes

Ride your horse through specific pattern to demonstrate softness, willingness and accuracy in your horse. Judged on horse demeanor, presentation, completion and horsemanship. Horse and rider must enjoy the class or will be disqualified. Patterns to be posted on May 4. Videos must be continuous. Patterns may be called for the riders in Warm Up, Horsemanship I and Horsemanship II classes.

Fun Classes

Lead your horse (or ride your hobby horse/broom) in these fun, pandemic-friendly classes. Entertaining options for non-riders to participate in the show. Judged on creativity, sense of humor, style and safety. Patterns and specific rules to be posted on May 4. Videos must be continuous. Download rules for all fun classes.
